The gems that are dropped by enemies will travel across the screen and will cause a lot of activity as they travel. There are many different gem types in the game. Some of the gem types are light, medium, heavy and dark. The light ones are very weak in comparison to the other gem types and the heavy ones are quite strong. The dark ones have very interesting gem drops that really pop during game play. This game has a lot of exciting gem drop effects that will leave you going back to the play button again.

It is simple to learn how to use all the gem types in the game. The tutorial in the game helps to explain the entire gem dropping process and the relationships between the different gem types. The tutorial focuses on the heavy duty gems that are used to power up fighters. The light ones are used to make your fighter's stronger and to give them special abilities. When playing the game you will notice that the gem that is closest to the player is selected and this will cause the chosen gem to be dropped by an enemy.

While playing in the Game mode you will notice that you gain points when winning matches. These points can then be spent on different stages where you will battle stronger enemies. You will need to accumulate enough gems to unlock more stages and continue playing. The best thing about this mode is that you have endless replay value and since there are no time limits involved you are able to play the same level over again to try to win different levels.

As you progress through the various levels in the game you will notice that the gem pickups that were available at the beginning of the game are no longer available. You must collect these gems on your own by going through the platform that is made out of an infinite number of stages. It is quite easy to get stuck on one of these stages and be unable to progress any further. The good news is that you are always able to restart from where you stopped and try again.

Using these gem pickups will transform the fighters into powerful fighters that are more than capable of taking down stronger enemies. The only downside to this mode is that you must have a lot of coins so that you can purchase the gems that will transform your fighters into stronger ones.

The Puzzle and Battle mode in the game allows you to select a character that you would like to play as and then a puzzle that will challenge you. Each level in the game comes with a set of ten challenges. Completing these challenges will grant you a star and unlock new fighters to use in your Brawls. Once you have defeated all the enemies on each level, you are allowed to move on to the next. The controls for this mode are simple and all you have to do is to hit the space bar to perform an action.

Overall, the Gems Smack'em is a fun flash game that features some great action packed puzzle and fighting. The graphics and music are well done, although there are times when the fighters and gem containers could use some more updates. If you have a flash player installed, then this game should work just fine.
